Then there was the lead up to the election and the election itself. Ugh. As I've said in the past, in times of crisis I get creative. And again I have put my crisis energy into creating something heartfelt, something helpful, and hopefully something humorous in this third installment of my 10 Steps To Writing Poetry Video Series - Acrostic Poetry.
My hope is that this video will help you feel better if you have been struggling. Let me know if it does. :)
You can also watch Video 1 - Riddle Poems here and Video 2 - Limericks here.

Love this Bridget. The instructions are clear and followable, and the music and characters make it fun. What a wonderful resource.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sally, for watching the video. I appreciate it and you. =)
DeleteI'll have to take some time this weekend to watching them all. I look forward to it.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Diane. I hope you find them fun and humorous - a bit a levity for a few minutes at least. =)
DeleteYour books and videos are so clever and filled with humor. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joy! I think the world may now have an insight into my brain - I think like a jumpy tutu wearing fingerprint girl. =)
DeleteI love how you allow crises to fuel your creativity, Bridget! I look forward to watching and learning! xo
ReplyDeleteThank you, Irene! Sometimes it is all we can do when we feel so powerless - like now.
DeleteLOVE this video (will definitely check out the others too). BRAVA! Wee word and Wee One are too adorable. Thanks for making me smile this morning.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jama! It makes me smile to know you liked it. =)
DeleteBridget, watching your video was a pure flight of joy for me this morning. I loved the whimsical character, the explicit directions, and humor. Well done! May I ask what platform you used for this video? I plan on sharing this with teachers.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carol! I'm so glad you liked it. I used powerpoint to create it and convert it to video. I hope the teachers you share it with can use it - if one poem gets written because of a video I made I'd be eternally grateful. =)
DeleteI read some advice that said don't sink into sorrow, better to create! And how terrific that you did, Bridget. Your characters and clear directions make each video such a delight to watch. Kudos to you for doing these.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda! No sinking around here - too much to do to bring the world up, one poem (and video) at a time. =)
DeleteI like it, Bridget. My 7-year-old daughter watched, too. She liked it, too. One thought might be to suggest that kids could write one about their friend or pet or home. What happened to the companion books?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Brenda, and thank you to your 7 y/o for watching it too. I like your suggestion about other topics to write acrostics about. Regarding the companion books, I decided I am not a salesperson or effective self publisher. And I don't know how to market. I like the idea of just having free videos available to introduce people to writing poetry and hopefully inspire them to write a poem or two... =)
DeleteAnother awesome video. You're my hero!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joe! I think you are pretty terrific yourself. =)
DeletePoetry is such a healthy way to cope with stress. At times like this, it's so important not to bottle feelings up inside, but to express them in a healthy way.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with you whole heartily, Jane. Sometimes what you create out of stress is helpful and cathartic to others, and other times it may just be helpful and cathartic to one's self. Either way it is the creativity that is important. =)
DeleteSo fun! Love your work and thank you. This week has been rough. Poetry is the healing factor.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Julieanne! Glad my little bit of humor and poetry instruction has helped. Poetry heals us, one poem (or video) at a time. =)
DeleteBravo - another one done! These are fabulous, if anything getting better. Keep up the good work (and so sorry about the "break" - at least you got a clever poem out of it! If only that would help pay the bills).
ReplyDeleteThank you, Violet! I'm really getting the hang of these and they are fun to create - anything to let my mind take a break from life. Thanks for your kind words regarding our "breaks" - October was rough for our insurance. =)
DeleteWhat a great resource!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary Lee! I'd be eternally grateful if poetry was written because of a video I produced. =)
DeleteBoth cheering & educational! I'm feeling better. 😄
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad, Keri! Your comment makes me feel better, too. =)
