while on the go.
I resemble
the letter O.
Despite my hole,
I do not leak.
Through my middle
you can peek.
I am eaten plain
or drizzled with icing.
Either way
I'm quite enticing.
Topped with sprinkles
or chopped nuts.
I've been known
to cause big butts.
Who Am I?

LOL. The big butts made me laugh. Happy National Donut Day. What a fun poem. I'm sure Hanson Gregory would eat it up. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jama! Yes, Hanson would know the answer immediately! =)
DeleteExcellent, Bridget! I like it all, but I think my special favorite may be the second stanza.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tabatha! =)
DeleteHA!! I was going with Cheerios until that last stanza!!
ReplyDeleteCheerios are fun to peek through! Good guess, Mary Lee! =)
DeleteThis is hilarious. I love the quick rhythm and rhyme--it feels like breakfast on the go!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Liz! Luckily the poetry version is fat/calorie free! =)
DeleteWhy does all the good stuff cause big butts, that's what I want to know! My hubby and I had a big chuckle over this one, Bridget. (I'll take mine with custard, please.)
ReplyDeleteI want to know that too, Michelle! Glad you and your husband enjoyed this sugar-free "treat". =)
DeleteThis made me laugh out loud, Bridget! LOVE it! Thanks for sharing this. I need a donut!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Becky! A donut sounds good right about now...or anytime really. =)
DeleteI haven't had a doughnut in years... no sugar, no gluten, no doughnut. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteIt was still a cute poem, though!
Oh no, Donna! Both my response to your comment and my longing for a doughnut have disappeared. =)
