Ode to the Super Bowl

anthem sung
game's begun
Super Bowl

hut, hut, hike
touchdown spike
take control

run, pass, throw
8 yards to go
need field goal

chicken wings
salsa zings
swallow whole

quarterback fake
commercial break
heart and soul

down field throw
halftime show
rock and roll

extra point
hurt knee joint
lose control

winning team
blows off steam
crowd control

best team won
season done
Super Bowl

From a Broncos point of view, it's time to see those words, "season done". What a hype it's been this week! You've got us ready, Bridget!

I like your format, Bridget! To be honest, I'm more interested in the anthem and the wings than the other (actual football-playing) stuff. Yay snacks!

Perfect! You've captured all the excitement and play by play of the day. Especially like "swallow whole." :) Great energy and movement in your words.

Thanks, Linda! I like the Broncos - Peyton Manning is one of my favorite football players. I agree, enough with the hype. =)

Thanks, Tabatha! Yes, yay snacks! And the commercials and the halftime show...we have our priorities straight. =)

Bridget Magee said...

Thanks, Jama! Hopefully Sunday's game will be full of "great energy and movement" too! =)

I love it! Way to go with that rhyme scheme! I like how you included so many aspects of the Super Bowl experience.

Nice rhythm you have there, in addition to the wordplay. As for the Seahawks...sorry, their season is already done. ;)

Bridget Magee said...

Thanks, Karin! The Super Bowl is an event experienced on many different levels for many different reasons - I like the gastronomical one best. =)

Bridget Magee said...

Thanks, Matt! I agree - the Seahawks should have been done two weeks ago! I was hoping for a Packer/Patriot Super Bowl...maybe next year. =)

Great Super Bowl poem, Bridget!

It's almost here, though I admit I'm in only for the Patriots. Nice poem that captures the entire viewer experience.

Bridget Magee said...

Thanks, Catherine!

Bridget Magee said...

Thanks, Joyce! I love watching the Super Bowl no matter who is playing or who wins. =)

You worked hard to hold on to that kicky form through the whole long game, Bridget--nice job! I'd commit to the Super Bowl if it lasted only as long as your poem. : )

Bridget Magee said...

Thanks, Heidi! The Super Bowl is quite the time commitment - glad you stuck out my poem. =)

You write as if you actually know what you're talking about, Bridget! This, coming from someone who most assuredly does not. I do recognize a great rhyme scheme when I see it, though. :)

Hi there Bridget, love reading about the Superbowl here, and in verse too! :)

Bridget Magee said...

Thanks, Michelle! I actually like football. I loved watching with my dad and brothers growing up. =)

Thanks, Myra! We have to wait a whole year for the next Super Bowl. I could do without the hype, though. =)
