I can't go to bed,
I'm not even sleepy.
I can't go to sleep,
everything is creepy.
What was that thunk?
Did you hear it?
I can't see it,
but I fear it.
*Deep breath in...*
I try to think of only good thoughts.
puppy licks...warm sunshine...Mom and Dad hugs...the smell of pine...
*Deep breath out...*
I try to relax my tummy knots.
"Rise and shine, my little sunshine!"
I can't wake up,
I'm still so sleepy.
I love my room,
nothing is creepy.

I wish I would have had this yesterday with my granddaughter who, at the last resort, often says she needs me to stay because the bedroom is scary. This is a new thing for her, & we think she's nearly ready to give up the naps! You've described it exactly, Bridget!
Were you at my house last night?
Oh, your granddaughter sounds precious, Linda! Giving up naps is a milestone for little ones (and their adults). =)
I think we share a lot of the same experiences, Liz! Love that connection. Happy New Year! =)
