Who's the fool?
The person
who is
all wet
or
the person
who squirts
the water?
Who's the fool?
The person
who discovered
the rubber cockroach
in her cereal
or
the person
who put it there?
Who's the fool?
The person
who is
terrified,
tricked,
and tortured
in the name
of "fun"
or
the person
who finds humor
in another person's
discomfort,
fear,
and pain.
Who's the fool?
Happy April Fool's Day?

I like the repetitive question - there is a darkness in this poem, for some of the tricks played today can be rather mean. Good to remember that.
You're the first to even mention April Fool's Day, Bridget. I've had fun in the past on this day, but you are looking at another side of it. Terrific repetition to emphasize!
Thanks, Tara! Yes, I've been the recipient of an April Fool's prank or two when I was little and it never felt very good. I personally like funny jokes, not mean ones. =)
Thanks, Linda! Sometimes jokes at another person's expense is not a joke at all - it's bullying. Just sayin'. Hope your day is prank-free! =)
