At Swim Lessons

I wait in the only sliver of shade,
While you splash, float, and wade -
At swim lessons.

The scent of sunscreen fills the air,
While you dunk and dive without a care -
At swim lessons.

I share the bleachers with a fussy baby's cries,
While you learn to swim the butterfly -
At swim lessons.

It is worth the heat and near sunburn,
To keep you safe because of all you learn -
At swim lessons.

  1. Been there, done that! You've captured it perfectly, even the fussy baby. Beautiful.
